Immigration Update

Monday, Jun 14, 2021

It’s been a year since we last checked in with attorneys Elizabeth Goss of Goss Associates and Doug Hauer of Mintz on immigration restrictions related to the so called “travel ban” that has been in place now for travelers from the Schengen area to the U.S. since March of last year.  Just last week, the Secretary of State issued an update to its National Interest Exceptions (NIE) determination that may ease business travel for certain visa categories. Travel has been picking up – but who can and cannot travel? Will the EU follow through to allow travel for vaccinated travelers from the U.S. as recently announced?

In this hour, we will assess briefly the current state on travel and immigration including

  • Latest update on National Interest Exception (NIE)
  • How COVID has changed visa processing
  • “Travel Ban” from and to Europe and what’s ahead
  • Visa categories that are exempt
  • Latest on F-1 student and J-1 exchange visitor visas
