Communications & Events Intern at GABC

We are looking for an intern!

The German-American Business Council of Boston, Inc. (GABC) is a non-profit, member-based organization of companies, business people, and other professionals dedicated to encouraging and cultivating German-American business. Through our presentations, networking events, and social gatherings, GABC provides opportunities for the exchange of ideas, and for contact between its members.  Our members include manufacturers, financiers, government officials, scientists, researchers, attorneys, educators, retailers, entrepreneurs, and more.

Job Description:
The Communications & Events Intern reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for assisting with GABC’s communications & events on a part-time basis for approx. 10 hours a week.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with creating and researching content for GABC newsletter and Web site
  • Assist with creating content for and engaging on GABC’s social media platforms
  • Assist with developing and preparing GABC’s virtual and (in the future) in-person events
  • Attend and provide support during GABC’s virtual and (in the future) in-person events
  • Draft occasional press releases or organizational announcements for the Web site
  • Respond to outside inquiries as needed
  • Work on additional tasks on a project basis such as and not limited to: database & mailing list updates; company research; development of additional promotional materials; vendor research

Requirements:

  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills in English
  • Prior experience with social media campaigns and graphic design
  • Prior experience in event management (online or in-person)
  • Experience in hosting and setting up events in Zoom and other online conference tools
  • Canva and Constant Contact experience a must (or similar software)
  • Ability to take initiative, show good judgement, and manage projects
  • Comfortable with working remotely

Great to have:

  • Experience with video editing
  • Knowledge of German and/or German culture wäre wunderbar

Location: Most of the work can be done remotely; however, as we may be adding select in-person events, attendance at those events would be preferred.

Date: Position can be filled immediately
Hours:  10 hours / week
