27th Annual International Business Forum

GABC is proud to partner again with the Global Business Alliance of New England (GBANE) to host and organize this event. For 27 years, the Annual International Business Forum and Networking Night has been been attended by the international business community.  In 2021, the panel discussion is moving virtual and more global with an exciting panel und special guest.  The panel discussion will be moderated by Doug Banks, Editor of the Boston Business Journal.

The topic for 2021 will be around what the next four years will bring in terms of trade and economic outlook to the international business community and will touch on topics such as tariffs, sanctions, Brexit, trade agreements (or the lack thereof) and of course the pandemic impact.

Speakers & Moderators

Douglas Banks, Executive Editor, BBJ
Is serving as Executive Editor of the Boston Business Journal, where he oversees all editorial content of the company’s daily web site, multiple electronic newsletters, weekly print edition, and panel and award events. The BBJ is Boston’s leading business media company. Doug appears regularly as a news analyst on New England Cable News, and is a frequent guest lecturer, speaker and panel moderator on issues from regional business and economic trends to communications, journalism and digital media.

David Day, Chairman, Global Risk Management Foundation
Is serving as the Co-Chairman of the Trade Policy Committee of the U.S. National Association of District Export Councils and a member of its National Board of Directors, representing the entire Pacific Region and the Southwestern U.S. As a U.S. business lawyer, Mr. Day has been on the ground extensively throughout the Indo-Pacific Region in deal-structuring and negotiations and is currently involved in a variety ofcommercial projects in Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, China and Japan.

Judith M. Dean, Professor of International Economics, IBS, Brandeis University
Studies the relationships between trade, poverty and environment, with a focus on China and India. Her research also examines the effects of global value chains, trade barriers and trade preferences on development. Prior to joining Brandeis, she was Senior International Economist at the US International TradeCommission, and Associate Professor of Economics at SAIS, Johns Hopkins University. She has been a consultant for the World Bank and OECD, and a Visiting Scholar at the Indian Statistical Institute, New Delhi, and the Clayton Yeutter International Trade Program, University of Nebraska.

Becca Gould, Senior Vice President, American Tower Corporation
Is serving as American Tower’s Senior Vice President, Public Affairs leading their engagement withpolicymakers and industry groups. Prior to joining American Tower, over the course of twelve years, Becca built and managed Dell’s Global Government Affairs and Public Policy team based in the capitals of most major markets. She was also a Vice President of Global Public Policy at the Business Software Alliance and an attorney with the law firm of Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, McPherson and Hand. She began her career as Counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce.

Nate LaMar, International Capture Manager, AM General LLC
Serving on the Indiana District Export Council (DEC), Nate also represents the Great Lakes states on the board of the National Association of District Export Councils (NADEC). For defense contractor AMGeneral (manufacturer of the Humvee), Nate’s territory includes Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Canada. He also has 25 years of previous international management experience with non-defense manu­facturers. Nate has been quoted on trade issues in various media, to include The Economist and Wall Street Journal. A former Army officer, Nate has a BS from West Point, a German Linguist Certificate from the Defense Language Institute, and an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management.

Shawn Levsen, International Sales Manager, UPS. President of the National District Export Councils
Is serving as Chair of the National Association of District Export Councils. He has worked for 20 years in UPS international business development managing a team of UPS international salespeople. He holds a MA from American University in Washington, DC and BA from the University of Iowa. He teaches international business at Austin Community College and is a licensed customs broker. He also organizes “The Mechanics of Exporting” seminars for companies wanting to learn more about international supply chain processes.

Ernesto Pinal, Director of Business Development, DQM Software
Is serving as the elected representative in Washington DC for the National Association of District Export Councils representing the North west region, lobbying for good and sustainable trade practices. Ernesto is also one of the board of directors of the Idaho District Export Council. He has held the position of General Manager for the SunRise Technology Group, a Motorola company, Executive Vice President for NextScan, Worldwide Product Manager for the Biometrics Solutions at Motorola, Director of Channel Sales and Product Management with Plasmon Data Systems, Sr. Program Manager of Core Technologies with Universal Electronics, among others.
