Public Information

I was born and raised in the beautiful Black Forrest area (Donaueschingen), and received my undergraduate degree in German Studies (Literature & Linguistics) with a minor in British Literature and Teaching German as Foreign Language (DaF). In 2009, I moved to the US for a one-year teaching position at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. After my time at St. Olaf, I decided to stay in the U.S. for my graduate work, and received a PhD in German Studies from the joint PhD program at Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill. Early on in my graduate studies, I started to focus my work on language pedagogy and experiential learning through study abroad. In 2016, I joined the University of Notre Dame as Assistant Teaching Professor of German and Executive Director of Berlin Programs. In that role, I developed and successfully implemented four summer study abroad programs. In order to be able to foster intercultural exchange between the US and Germany on a larger scale, I joined the Goethe-Institut Boston as Director of Language Programs and Deputy Director. The focus of my work is to promote the study of German in the US, connect people in New England meaningfully to the German culture, and help facilitate access to the German speaking world, be it for personal or business reasons.
