Dr. Bettina Schmerl is postdoc at the Picower Institute for Learning and Memory at MIT. Her research focusses on the structural and molecular heterogeneity of inhibitory synapses in the visual cortex. During her PhD she worked on understanding the function and interactions of postsynaptic scaffold proteins that are implicated in neurodevelopmental disorders. As part of the postdoctoral association (PDA) at MIT, she aims to connect and improve young researchers' personal experience at MIT.
