Public Information

I have been active in the biotechnology field with roles of increasing responsibility for the last 15 years. My achievements include the development of scalable particle engineering techniques to improve the solubility of drugs (BioAqueous Solubilization, The Dow Chemical Company), and the development of a novel dendrimer platform with improved performance and cost profile (Priostar®, Dendritic Nano-technologies). I have built and led teams developing polymer-drug and polymer-siRNA conjugates with release kinetics tailored to the therapeutic needs (CRLX288, Cerulean Pharma); high throughput protocols for RNA delivery (Preceres); and formulations for RNA species-specific treatments (GreenLight Bio). Lately, I was the point of contact for building business relations to pharma and biotech companies in the US and EU for NanoCarrier Co., Ltd., Japan. My current focus is on providing expertise in drug delivery and formulation challenges for small molecule drugs as well as biomolecules such as RNAs and peptides to early stage and established companies (Drug Delivery Solutions LLC).

I am an editorial board member of the journal Drug Delivery and have (co)organized 13 symposia and roundtable on drug delivery and cancer nanotechnology, including four symposia for the American Chemical Society (ACS), two symposia for the Materials Research Society (MRS), and a roundtable for the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS). I have edited four peer-reviewed books on drug delivery applications using nanoparticles, polymeric micelles, and particle engineering techniques, published by ACS and Springer Nature. I have (co)authored 36 peer-reviewed research articles, invited reviews, and book chapters, gave 44 oral and poster presentations, including 26 invited and keynote presentations, and I am a co-inventor on 14 patents and patent applications.
