Job Summary:

The Business Development Manager is responsible for developing access to and generating new business opportunities to achieve or exceed the growth, sales, and profitability goals of the company.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Marketing:

  • Acquire and maintain in-depth knowledge of the company’s products and capabilities within the industry, including the wire drawing process and subsequent conditioning and handling.
  • Determine and maintain information on market position in relation to competition (i.e. through Dunn & Bradstreet, Trade Shows, Website Content etc.)
  • Targeted generation of marketing leads, business development and acquisition of new customers: Identify prospects, develop relationships, and close initial deals for the company.
  • Generate marketing leads utilizing Wire Journal, ZoomInfo, Inside Database, Trade Associations, Trade Shows, LinkedIn, Facebook etc.
  • New customer profile generation and integration.

 

Extended Responsibilities:

Creation and conversion of Sales Leads:

  • Lead development of multimedia solutions for marketing and communication purposes (PowerPoint Presentations, Webinars, Videos, Virtual Trade Shows, Website Content) in collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and senior management.
  • Conducting acquisition campaigns and follow-up communication to generate sales and sales leads.
  • Determine and access new industries for available solutions and new challenges within the scope of the company’s focus and capabilities (i.e. tensile testing, non-ferrous products).
  • Monitor and promote conversion of marketing leads into sales.

Identification, promotion, and conversion of additional business with existing customers:

  • Determine opportunities for adding business with existing customers.
  • Define and promote sales of additional / related products with existing customers.

Customer retention and maintenance:

  • Collection of information for special projects
  • Establish and maintain excellent customer relationships and communication.

Customized solutions:

  • Support development of customized solutions in collaboration with engineering
  • Quotation of new projects and customized solutions, in collaboration with engineering and manufacturing. Involve Senior Management for quotations exceeding $ 10,000.00.

Data collection, Pricing, Quoting and Analyses:

  • Collect contact data and enter into system.
  • Utilize ERP for parts history and options sheets to generate sales prices.
  • Utilizing global shop history, options price list and manufacturing input to develop sales price aligned with target profits.
  • Prepare and submit quotes. Involve senior management for quoting over $10,000.00.
  • Convert quotes into sales orders.
  • Follow up on open quotes.
  • Regular quote result analyses, reporting and subsequent action planning and execution.
  • Regular sales result analyses, reporting, and subsequent action planning and execution.

Accounts Receivable, handling customer issues:

  • Monitor Accounts Receivable
  • Follow up on overdue Accounts Receivable (over 90 days)
  • Timely follow up on cash advances and downpayments, as well as credit card orders
  • Resolve technical or other customer issues in collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and senior management as needed.

Shipping / Logistics:

  • Collect and make available all pertinent data for on time LTL Shipping.
  • Manage international freight forwarding.
  • Manage packaging and delivery configuration.

Procedures:

  • Follow existing procedures, while initiating and ensuring execution of improvements as needed.

Other duties within scope as assigned by senior management.

Education/Skills/Experience:

  • Technical background is a must, a bachelor’s degree in engineering or 10 years of experience in a technical field.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including PowerPoint.
  • Additional skills in application software are a plus.
  • Experience with ERP systems focused on Sales and Marketing modules.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in Sales and/or Marketing.
  • Strong outbound marketing skills.
  • Experience in breaking into new markets.
  • Experience in a metalworking industry. Prior experience in the wire industry or related industries is a plus.
  • Must be willing and able to travel around 15% of the time, some international travel may be required.

Work Environment:

Works primarily in an office environment under frequent interaction with other departments.
