Goethe Institut is seeking Educational Liaison

EDUCATIONAL LIAISON

as part of its educational cooperations abroad for the period from 01.11.2023 (or later) to 31.10.2026 in Boston.

 Responsibilities:

  • Planning and executing German teacher training initiatives at both regional and national levels, including the oversight of the regional training center in Boston.
  • Collaborate with the Washington Regional Institute and other partners to design and implement educational cooperation programs with a focus on German language education
  • Collaboration on language initiatives strategically positioned within the company’s North American strategy framework. (e.g. SPARK, Studienbrücke, Multiplier Network)
  • Planning and implementation of programs/events for language students at the Goethe-Institut Boston
  • Contact person for the German language community in the Greater Boston area
  • Overseeing German language programs in U.S. schools, PASch schools, and colleges within the New England support region
  • Engaging in partnerships with school and educational authorities, professional associations, as well as schools, universities, and colleges in the New England support region
  • Announcing and granting scholarships and providing support for students and teachers in the scholarship application process
  • Planning and execution of language proficiency exams
  • Overseeing the budget of the educational cooperation in Boston
  • Providing support for project fundraising and application processes

Requirements:

  • Academic university degree, master or higher (preferably in German studies/DaF or a modern foreign language)
  • Teaching credential for middle school and high school (including certification in at least one modern foreign language or German), or equivalent knowledge and skills.
  • Extensive experience in project management
  • Strong familiarity with the U.S. educational landscape in German language teaching
  • Minimum one year of training and teaching experience in German as a foreign language. “Grünes Diplom” preferred
  • Up-to-date expertise in the methodology and didactics of German as a foreign language
  • Experience in adult education pedagogy, project management, networking, and training of educators
  • Proficiency in digital teaching and teacher training
  • Strong intercultural skills and effective negotiation abilities
  • Willingness to travel as needed, a valid driver’s license is necessary
  • Exceptional ability to perform well under pressure
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and a strong team-oriented mindset
  • Holding a valid U.S. work permit
